@Crystal Wilkins: Concerning "never give up," I'm just finishing "Chicken Soup for the Writer's Soul" and read two wonderful chapters listing best-selling books that either started as self-published or were rejected innumerable times by publishers. One of the chapters is called: "No one faces rejection more than an author." Examples: Louis L'Amour, super-successful wester writer, rejected 350 times before his first sale. The first "Chicken Soup" manuscript rejected by 123 publishers. A great word for us to know that even the best face rejection after rejection.
@Edward Henderson: Edward - Welcome to GWA's Crowdvine - we're only 16 days away from SpringFest 2008.
Looking forward to meeting you there.

@Crystal Wilkins: I like the "never give up" part - I'm afraid more of us need that encouragement - a reminder that what we do is important.
@Crystal Wilkins: Crystal,
Thanks for the encouraging comments about the seminar! So you're just 26 and have already written four detective stories and two novels? Wow! You sure beat me off the starting blocks! Let's keep touching base at Georgia Writers meetings and other opportunities.
@Steve Miller: Steve, thanks so much for a great workshop Saturday. It was very insightful and informative. I really enjoyed what you had to say and I believe you are a great speaker and inspired a lot of us!!
@krystal rollins: What's the name of your book? I, too, like writing mystery/suspense.
Response to How you create TIME TO WRITE
Great tips!
Thanks for sharing Kelly
YOu will want to check out Kellys book or go to her workshop at Spring Fest March 29!!!!!

@Lisa M. Russell: Hey, Lisa
I am here. I have three unpublished manuscripts two fiction and one inspirational nonfiction. I am interested in finding someone who wishes to engage in mutually beneficial peer critiquing of my manuscript "The Golden Child" an R-rated Adult manuscript about a street minister called the Street Angel fighting to keep two daughters in his family while preventing more juvenile killings on the mean and cool streets of Memphis--at least that what he thinks he is doing. In return I will critique their work and act as an encouraging chorus for helping shape their writing for publication. I can offer a few chapters for quick review to see if my writing is simpatico and meet to see if we can help each other. Thanks!
Editor for wip
I mentioned Barbara Rogan in yesterday's meeting and here is a link to her manuscript review page...

@Diane Cox: Welcome to GWA!!! It was nice to meet you today. I always appreciate agood compliment as Twain says, I can live off of it for a few months!!!
@Diane Cox: Thanks for the encouragement about the seminar! It was so much fun and everyone was so nice. By the way, I gave the wrong url for my blog. It's actually http://www.freelance
writerblog.blogspot.com/
Look forward to seeing you at future meetings!
@Lisa M. Russell: Lisa, I think you do a great job with the web site. I have several of my own and they are maintenance intensive! Thank you for extending your hand in friendship to me as a new member.
@Steve Miller: Steve, I really enjoyed your workshop today, which is the first I have attended as a new member of Georgia Writers. I want to thank you for sharing such good information and I look forward to sharing in turn what I have learned about web marketing with other members of the group.
@Cindy Cooper: Welcome Cindy - Georgia ALWAYS can use more great authors!
Depending on where you live, you may be able to hook up with a writing/critique group. Or -- invite your own like-minded writers at the SpringFest!
@Trinka Polite: Signing up for SpringFest 2008 is a great first step on learning how publishing works and where to sell your work. Welcome!

@Peter Bowerman: Can't wait to attend your seminar! There are so many options these days in publishing. I've got a nonfiction book with an agent and out to traditional publishers, but am toying with self-publishing through BookSurge. They've done a great job reprinting one of my old books that went out of print. Can't wait to get your input.

@Stephanie Salter: I would never be where I am now without your Indesign training. I look forward to seeing you again. Your workshop will be great because so many writers need all the help they can get with PR....boy do I know it!! You are a pro! Proud to call you a "sister" writer!
@mary welch: Mary
In addition to my many responsibilities as Admin for GWA, I write for Dr. Betty Siegel and she had me read an editorial note by you from your Magazine. I love what you said about businesses need to be flexible with employees schedule. I love to see that support for working mothers and father! I loved your rationale. Personally, I work for a very progressive boss and he allows me flexibility in my schedule to be a mother first. (Thanks Ralph!).
Great article. Anyone who comes to your workshop on writing for magazines will come away with advice from a real pro! Thanks for doing a Spring Fest workshop for GWA!!
@patricia sprinkle: Great article about you in the AJC Books Page.
I put it on the GWA Office Door touting you as one of our speakers.
@Stephanie Salter: Your website has great information. I can tell that you have plenty of experience in the industry.
@Stephanie Salter: Your site looks great! I can see you're helping so many people with your obvious talent. Look forward to seeing you at the conference!
