@Crystal Wilkins: Concerning "never give up," I'm just finishing "Chicken Soup for the Writer's Soul" and read two wonderful chapters listing best-selling books that either started as self-published or were rejected innumerable times by publishers. One of the chapters is called: "No one faces rejection more than an author." Examples: Louis L'Amour, super-successful wester writer, rejected 350 times before his first sale. The first "Chicken Soup" manuscript rejected by 123 publishers. A great word for us to know that even the best face rejection after rejection.

Thanks for the encouraging comments about the seminar! So you're just 26 and have already written four detective stories and two novels? Wow! You sure beat me off the starting blocks! Let's keep touching base at Georgia Writers meetings and other opportunities.

I am here. I have three unpublished manuscripts two fiction and one inspirational nonfiction. I am interested in finding someone who wishes to engage in mutually beneficial peer critiquing of my manuscript "The Golden Child" an R-rated Adult manuscript about a street minister called the Street Angel fighting to keep two daughters in his family while preventing more juvenile killings on the mean and cool streets of Memphis--at least that what he thinks he is doing. In return I will critique their work and act as an encouraging chorus for helping shape their writing for publication. I can offer a few chapters for quick review to see if my writing is simpatico and meet to see if we can help each other. Thanks!

@Peter Bowerman: Can't wait to attend your seminar! There are so many options these days in publishing. I've got a nonfiction book with an agent and out to traditional publishers, but am toying with self-publishing through BookSurge. They've done a great job reprinting one of my old books that went out of print. Can't wait to get your input.

In addition to my many responsibilities as Admin for GWA, I write for Dr. Betty Siegel and she had me read an editorial note by you from your Magazine. I love what you said about businesses need to be flexible with employees schedule. I love to see that support for working mothers and father! I loved your rationale. Personally, I work for a very progressive boss and he allows me flexibility in my schedule to be a mother first. (Thanks Ralph!).
